As mentioned since the end of October, I’ve been Christmas knitting. Some I’ve shown, like knitted shrugs and pokemon hats, the rest I’ve been keeping a secret. But seeing as Christmas is now past, I can show you all what I’ve been making!

This post is really image heavy, you’ve been warned!

So, first, the bags!

Baby Yoda hat! A request from work, based loosely on the free pattern ‘Baby Yoda Knit Hat’ by Shinah Chang

A pineapple hat – another request – free pattern by Chile Con Yarne – as well as a plain black one using the same pattern (but no leaves) as a leaving gift for my boss at work. Sadly forgot to take a photo before gifting, oh well…

And last hat, again a request from work, free Ravelry pattern ‘Alpaca Earflaps‘ by OzYarn.

Lots of hats lately!

On a different note, the last photo, some may spy some Shadowrun books – I’m preparing the traditional news year eve game, though this year we’re mixing it up with a new system and world – so we’re going from Call of Cthulhu where you will die, or go insane, to Shadowrun, where the players are probably going to die, or drive me insane. Not that they don’t do that anyway.

My brain is still trying to work out exactly how they managed to skip an entire book (I’m talking 50 odd pages of adventure here) from the Horror on the Orient Express Campaign, and then the final book covering the end scenarios was just tossed to the side… (I won’t go into details, gaming is very much a ‘you had to be there’ type thing in my opinion.)

It’ll be interesting trying out a new system though, we’ll be playing 3rd edition Shadowrun as that’s what Engel and myself own a lot of. Well, I own a rule book. He owns four rule books, one start up guide and about thirty odd companion/expansion books and a 6 page character sheet…and I think there’s a few adventures in there too, but I probably won’t use those – no point really as my gaming group have the habit of, when presented with three options, taking the twelfth.

Anyhow!

Wool count. Five used this week – woot!

Wool Count down:
Starting total – 747 balls
Extra stash found – 20 balls (so far)
Wool used – 120
Wool given – 3
Wool bought – 45

Total – 697

Technically its tomorrow, but I wont be on the computer at all then, so now’s the time for a quick post.

To start, this will be my own second mothers day. Having Felix has certainly changed things! Don’t quite have the time to make as much as I used to, but its worth it.

Anyhow, I’m going to get all mushy if I go on, so I thought I’d show a previous knit I’ve made on a previous mothers day! This is for Engels mum.

Mothers day panda

Its the Giant Panda pattern from Knitted Wild Animals by Sarah Keen. A book I’ve actually used a lot – though the vast majority of the creations are nabbed so quick there aren’t any photos!

Oh, and since we’re looking at pandas:

Micro panda!

From Alan Darts Advent Tree pattern book – this is actually a modified polar bear. Its amazing how much you can change a pattern just with a few colour tweaks!

Lastly, not mothers day presents technically, but something which is purely my mum: Pineapples!

Pineapples!!!!

So the big one on the left is the Pine Apple Bag by Isabel Gancedo (free, just click on the link), to the right, a tweaked, smaller version of the same pattern and at the bottom, Fruit Bookmarks – Pineapple by Amalia Samios (another free one!).

I’ll end my post there, Happy mothers day to everyone out there – be your little one a small child, a grown up now, or a cute pet!

Oh, and importantly, my wool count! This week I’ve used a massive 15 balls of wool! So the previous weeks total of 752 is now…737! Yeah! If only my whole wool collection consisted of 50g balls, those 500g ones I have aren’t going to go anywhere near as fast…

As you can see, pineapples!

Pineapple for keyrings here, and bag here.

I’ve not gone mad (well, more so than normal) honest! These are my mums birthday presents – the big bag was last years, and the matching purse and key rings are this year. She loves pineapples and its become a bit of a running joke – although I’ll hastily add she does actually use these! The big one is a lunch bag and/or toiletries when travelling, and the little one she uses to store her electric cigarettes and chargers.

I like it when a present is used, though now I’m stuck for next years pineapple related present…suggestions anyone?

I gave her these when she was visiting last weekend, and on her actual birthday spoke to her via Skype – it was amusing joining in the birthday song and munching cake 300 miles away from the actual party, but hey, it was fun! I did also spend time chatting to my niece and, after her showing me her glittery Halloween spider, I showed her my own knitted tarantula.

Engel then upped us both by bringing in my real tarantula and showed her off, to my nieces horror and fascination!

Its been a quiet week otherwise, worked on some Christmas presents and some stock for the next craft fair – more on that in a future post!

Well, going to make a move and get back to my knitting needles.
