For going so long without an update. Life has been…well, life.

Mostly the usual, work, Felix, chores, it was however Engel’s birthday this weekend, and I’ve been putting a lot of effort into our rpg call of cthuhlu campaign as we started one on his birthday last year, and its the groups first anniversary of gaming, and another birthday for him.

I’ll go into more detail another time about our gaming group, but suffice to say that if presented with three options, in game, they will take the tenth.

I’m not kidding.

Really.

I spent five hours winging two parts of a campaign together that they completely bypassed the important bits of and found what they were after by sheer luck, then moved on, with none of the information to actually proceed.

Its good fun, just hard work.

So time has been rather short, and something had to give and it was the blog. But only for a fortnight!

Next week I aim to have an interesting post with some photos and knitting…

But for now, you’ll have to settle on the wool count. Its gone down by eight since the last update!

Wool Count down:
Starting total (28Feb15) – 747 balls
Extra stash found – 10 balls (so far)
Wool used – 44 (Yeah!)
Wool given – 3
Wool bought – 3

Total – 719

Oh, and a week  Saturday I’m attending a craft fair! Its for the Rabbit Rescue Trust North West

This May bank holiday I was at the Chestnut Centre – its an otter and owl sanctuary, and since the weather looked promising, I figured it would be a nice little family day out.

I think I should take a moment to explain. I hate water. Nearly drowned when I was 15, yadda, yadda, the stuff gives me the creeps. Especially big open expanses of it. When myself and Engel had Felix I wanted to make sure she didn’t have that same phobia, so to the pool she went when she was but a tiny thing.

Her response to water? Roll onto back, cuddle a rubber duckie/ball and kick with the back legs, grinning manically.

So we nick named her ‘Ottah’, as that’s what she made us think of.

Subsequently, I kept saying when she was old enough to not need a pram, we’d go to the otter sanctuary and she can see her namesakes in action.

She loved it. Otters go squeak. Owls go hoot. She can outrace her mum on the uphill and her dad on the downhill. Everything’s awesome.

Though she did have a tantrum at the gift shop on the way out – she ran right past all the mountains of cuddly toys, and dove into the books, demanding about six of them…she already owns five of the ones she wanted! So when we got home I read ‘The Otter that Loved to hold hands’ to her then promptly cast one on the needles.

One adorable Otter. Its one of the Patons wildlife collection. It goes to bed with her. And I had to do owls too.

The infamous Owl Puff pattern – its free on Ravelry. Oh, and because I’m sure someone must be wondering what knitted thing I photograph all the toys on:

The also infamous, ten stitch blanket. Also free on Ravelry.

Hope you all had a good bank holiday too!

Oh, wool update, three used this week! And of the two I bought last week, yep, Sods Law, only needed one in the end.

Starting total (28Feb15) – 747 balls
Extra stash found – 10 balls (so far)

What can I say? I couldn’t resist seeing what was happening in my area – quite a few LYS near me did special offers, demonstrations and cake!

I was good though and only bought two balls of wool. I could have walked away with…40 easy, but managed to restrain myself.

The ones I bought are to finish a project on the needles already – a cute jumper for Felix, and as Sods Law dictates, when knitting a pattern for the purpose of stash busting, one will have to buy more of that wool to finish the project, defeating the purpose of having knit it in the first place.

One would have sufficed, but when Engel stated that knowing my luck I would run out right before the second sleeve, well, he jinxed me. If I bought one I would run out. If I bought two I wouldn’t need the second.

So two it is. I’ll make a matching hat, or some arm warmers. Maybe socks too. Oh, a little bag would look adorable. And a toy.

May need another ball…

Wool update – used two, bought two, no change!

Wool Count down:
Starting total (28Feb15) – 747 balls
Extra stash found – 10 balls (so far)
Wool used – 33 (Yeah!)

For the Age of Ultron movie to be released, I went and knit for me:

Cat Widow!

(Black Widow from the Avengers)

And…

Cat Eye!

(Hawk Eye from the Avengers)

Cat Eye tummy shot!

So thats four done, five to go! This pair were the easiest so far – knit entirely in black with a few details sewn into their wooly bodies, or in the case of Cat Widows hair, a latch hook…

News for today? Not a lot again, some of my family was this way so I met them for lunch and caught up on all the current gossip. Did use up a ball of wool though!

Extra stash found – 10 balls (so far)

Check in tomorrow and see who gets made on the fourth day of waiting!

For the Age of Ultron movie to be released, I went and knit for me:

Phil Pawson!

Ok, its Phil Coulson from The Avengers and Agents of Shield.

But as a cat!

And here he is hanging with his boss, Nick Furry!

Second kitty from that T-shirt of Engels, and not only does he think they’re awesome, Felix is having a ball with them as well. They happen to be the perfect size and weight for her to launch across the room…

Nothing to report really since yesterday – the weather here has been lovely, so I took Felix to feed the ducks. Actually, I have a story to tell about that.

Felix: Duck! Duck!

Me: Yes, ducks! Lots of ducks!

Felix: Nom Nom!

Me: Yes, you’re feeding the ducks, the ducks are going nom nom.

Felix: No! Ducks Nom Nom. Ducks Yum Yum!

Shes definitely mine and Engels daughter.

Enough cute kiddy stories, wool count! Managed to use one ball today so…

For the Age of Ultron movie to be released, I went and knit for me:

Nick Furry!

Ok, its Nick Fury from the Avengers, as a cat (Catvengers!)

Isn’t he cute with his little eye patch?

Engel received a Catvengers t-shirt ages ago, and its something he kept asking for. So he’s getting the set. Thats only 9 kitties…

Onto actual news, been a manic fortnight (hence the lack of a post last weekend) but its all work stuff an then catching up on chores and family time.

But you’re all more interested in the wool stash, right? 5 used this fortnight, and I may have ‘accidentally’ bought one…

Starting total (28Feb15) – 747 balls

Mission Objective complete.

Final package dropped off in Liverpool.

Business concluded.

Engel had far too much fun with the insinuations of this ‘business’ and ‘package’. On Friday I had, in fact, dropped off the last of my largest commission undertaken. A friend is getting married soon and, instead of flowers, she wanted a knitted bear and liger on each table, each toy being about a foot long. For eight tables.

I’ll admit I was a tiny bit tired of this by the eight pair!

But, none the less, here are the little guys:

The bear is based on ‘Brown Bear’ by Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne from ‘Knit your own zoo’

And the Liger is based on ‘Tabby Cat Prowling’ by Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne from ‘Best in show: Knit your own cat’

As an amusing aside, I originally decided to knit the bears out of  a fuzzy wool, and using the pattern ‘Grizzly Bear’ by Kath Dalmeny from ‘Knitted World of Toys’

Lets just say fuzzy wool isn’t so good at holding its shape. At all.

I did get a cute guinea pig though!

Not much else to say other than a pleasant Easter was had by all. Oh, and lastly, 2 balls of wool this week.

In knitting terms, its Easter – always have to start these things early!

So, what have I been making for Easter?

Cute, aren’t they? Also, super simple. Its a free online pattern by Lebinslustiger.

Essentially you knit a square, do some crafty sewing, add a pom pom and voila! Adorable bunny! I’ve knitted a bunch of squares and taken them to work, asking if people want a knitted Easter bunny, with a little twist – they do the sewing themselves.

It worries me how many people simply go ‘I cant do that’ and honestly believe they cant. Ok, only one of the ‘bunnies’ made at work looks like mine above, but they do all look like rabbits!

Slightly misshapen, lumpy rabbits, but rabbits!

Have a few more (hilarious) lunches to go and see how many more people I can convince to try…

My other Easter like knit?

This cutie. Another free pattern, this one by LionBrand.

Felix got an Ikea barnyard with animals. Its adorable, but it didn’t have a sheep! I couldn’t have that, so this little guy is now with the rest of her set. Hmm. What other animals should she have?

This week I used just the one ball, I’ve been distracted sewing bunnies. I was also kindly given three balls! I love getting wool as a gift, especially when its random, ‘saw this and thought of you’ gifts. Full wool count summary below!

Anyone remember this? Was my header for the very first incarnation of the foxymitts website, when it was on blogspot nearly nine years ago!

Was beginning the painfully slow process of updating my Ravelry account, and procrastinated by browsing through the old project photos and found this one. Realised I’d never posted the pattern online before either!

So thats been rectified – you can find it in the free patterns section!

Onto other news, how did I use so much wool last week? By knitting these:

Pom Pom cuddle blanket

Its a Free Ravelry Download by Lindsay Oliver. Its super sweet and super quick! Which is good, as I made two. Then two half versions (so triangles) as impromptu gifts. Well received ones mind!

Just a short post today, Felix is trying to shove an Octonaut into my ear as I type!

Oh, wool count, 737 is now 734!

Technically its tomorrow, but I wont be on the computer at all then, so now’s the time for a quick post.

To start, this will be my own second mothers day. Having Felix has certainly changed things! Don’t quite have the time to make as much as I used to, but its worth it.

Anyhow, I’m going to get all mushy if I go on, so I thought I’d show a previous knit I’ve made on a previous mothers day! This is for Engels mum.

Mothers day panda

Its the Giant Panda pattern from Knitted Wild Animals by Sarah Keen. A book I’ve actually used a lot – though the vast majority of the creations are nabbed so quick there aren’t any photos!

Oh, and since we’re looking at pandas:

Micro panda!

From Alan Darts Advent Tree pattern book – this is actually a modified polar bear. Its amazing how much you can change a pattern just with a few colour tweaks!

Lastly, not mothers day presents technically, but something which is purely my mum: Pineapples!

Pineapples!!!!

So the big one on the left is the Pine Apple Bag by Isabel Gancedo (free, just click on the link), to the right, a tweaked, smaller version of the same pattern and at the bottom, Fruit Bookmarks – Pineapple by Amalia Samios (another free one!).

I’ll end my post there, Happy mothers day to everyone out there – be your little one a small child, a grown up now, or a cute pet!

Oh, and importantly, my wool count! This week I’ve used a massive 15 balls of wool! So the previous weeks total of 752 is now…737! Yeah! If only my whole wool collection consisted of 50g balls, those 500g ones I have aren’t going to go anywhere near as fast…
